Student research
Many small business owners want to know more about their customers, social media and digital entrepreneurship, but do not have the time, expertise or capacity to do so. For these questions, student research can offer a solution: students from years 1 to 3, often with new, fresh ideas conduct small-scale, short-term and practical research, providing insight and advice. The retailer will be closely involved in the research, as client and co-thinker.

Graduation research
This can take different forms: quantitative, with figures and data; qualitative, through literature research and interviews; or design research, with user research and prototypes. This type of research results in a substantiated advice, implementation plan or prototype. The retailer cooperates intensively in the research and helps the graduate by providing access to data and contacts, for example.

Applied scientific research

Professional researchers use scientific methods to conduct applied research. The research makes a direct contribution to retail practice by providing retailers with concrete insights and advice they can put to work immediately. E.g. a collection of best practices, an industry analysis, or a digital marketing toolkit for shopping areas. Retailers and other stakeholders give direction to the research questions from their practice and open their business or institution to researchers.

Scientific research

In this research, knowledge development is paramount. Based on the latest international insights and models, assumptions are tested and knowledge and insights are developed. The research results in new concepts or models that are independent of specific circumstances. The theories developed serve to inspire retail practice and inform strategic decisions, e.g. on new investments.
